We live in a society that encourages individuals to explore new foods, crafts, jobs, adventures, purchases, and more. We receive these challenges daily from social media, TV, radio, magazines, people we know, and even books we read. Many people are making a living as influencers.
Lately, I've been influenced to try new foods, make crafts, purchase new cleaning supplies, and buy items for my vacation. After watching a woman decorate cookies in multiple short videos, I decided to make one. The fact that she used to work at a popular cookie place didn’t discourage me. She made it look easy. Over the years, I’ve considered giving this a try, but I convinced myself I couldn’t create anything as good as the product at the cookie store. I decided this was the week I'd make that cookie for my son's birthday.
I bought a tube of cookie dough, a couple of canned frostings, and some extra decorating tips.
How did it turn out? Overall, I'm happy with the results, and everyone enjoyed it. The balloons could look better. A little color wouldn’t hurt. I’ll definitely repeat this project.
I will make a couple of changes next time. I’ll cook the cookie about a minute less than recommended in the video. I will make frosting from scratch. That will add more time and money to the project, but I make homemade frosting for my cakes, so it won’t be a challenge.
I recommend this project to anyone who wants to make something semi-homemade. If you'd like to make it fully homemade, mix up your own cookie dough.
Come back next month to see what someone has convinced me I can’t live without and whether it was a good or bad decision to try it.
